Binary Code Bracelets

Students will learn about what binary code is and practice translating with it.

Materials:

• Beads with two colors

• String

Time Needed: 30 minutes

I Do: 10 minutes

• Explain what binary code is

• Why is binary code important?

  • Understanding 0s and 1s

  • How binary represents numbers

• How is binary used?

We Do: 15 minutes

• Using the beads with two colors, have the kids make bracelets that spell out their birthdays in binary code

You Do: 5 minutes

• Give them a number to translate to binary code​
